Why they last

The weight of the cotton is the difference. Superdry hoodies are cut from a heavier loopback than the usual mid-market hoodie, which is why they hold their shape through a season rather than going soft and shapeless at the cuffs and hem. Wash at 30 and dry flat rather than on a radiator — heat is what kills the ribbing.

Zip or overhead

A full-zip is the more useful of the two in Irish weather, because you can open it indoors without taking it off, and it layers under a jacket without bunching at the neck. An overhead hood is warmer and sits better on its own. The relaxed fits are cut deliberately roomy — if you want a closer fit, size down.
